Josef Frank Set of Six Dining Chairs, Model B 2027
Josef Frank Set of Six Dining Chairs, Model B 2027
A set of six Model B 2027 dining chairs designed by Josef Frank for Firma Svenskt Tenn. Crafted in elm with sculptural backs composed of interlacing curves—one of Frank’s most refined postwar designs—each chair retains its black artificial-leather seat trimmed with brass nails. The form embodies Frank’s ability to merge classical structure with a sense of movement, yielding furniture that is at once modern, elegant, and deeply human.
Original 1950s examples of the Model B 2027 are uncommon, produced in limited numbers and seldom seen in complete sets with documented Svenskt Tenn provenance.
Produced by Svenskt Tenn, the Stockholm design house where Frank helped define the language of Swedish modernism from the 1930s onward. His work resisted strict functionalism in favor of warmth, color, and livability—qualities that remain central to Svenskt Tenn’s identity today.
