Guillerme & Chambron Ebonized Mid Repos Lounge Chair
Guillerme & Chambron Ebonized Mid Repos Lounge Chair
A Mid Repos lounge chair by Guillerme and Chambron for Votre Maison, distinguished by its row of elongated, sculpted oak back supports and gently curved armrests. The frame has been ebonized, emphasizing the carved texture and graphic silhouette that define the model. Upholstered cushions in an off-white bouclé rest against the vertical back elements, highlighting the contrast between the chair’s robust oak structure and its soft, enveloping seat.
The Mid Repos is one of Guillerme and Chambron’s most recognizable lounge forms, produced in multiple configurations throughout the 1950s–60s. This example features the tall, upward-reaching back pieces and low, generous seat proportions characteristic of the model, giving it its relaxed posture and sculptural presence. As with much of Guillerme and Chambron’s work, the chair balances function with expressive woodworking and a strong material sensibility.
